Mark your calendars for Friday, July 6th and meet us at the corner of Franklin and 7th as we once again present KIDS KREATE, our annual summer offering where kids try their hands at making their own original art. Come meet our neighbors, make a few new friends and help us spread the word that First United Methodist is an awesome downtown church with lots to share with our community. It promises to be a great time!
We’ll be there from 5:00 – 8:00 pm, but remember to come early if you’d like a Methodist brownie – they go fast!

FABULOUS FIRST FRIDAY – JUNE 7th – DON’T MISS IT!
Mark your calendars and plan to join us for another great First Friday as we have not one, but TWO fantastic offerings for our church and community.
Ripple Effect, an amazing choir from the South Bend area, once again joins us with their message of love, joy, truth, and acceptance. They describe themselves as a “Vocal Visionary Project”; led by Sherry K, this energetic and talented group of singers from all walks of life will lift your spirits, get your toes tapping and give you sunshine in your soul.
In addition, the Michigan City Art League will be back to display their works of art in several different mediums for us all to enjoy. This talented group always brings amazing works – come see what they’ve been up to all winter!
Weather permitting, we’ll be on the corner of 7th and Franklin from 5:00 pm-8: 00 pm. In case of inclement weather, we’ll be in the Sanctuary and Gathering Room. Don’t forget to come early – our Methodist brownies go fast!
Also, looking ahead to July’s First Friday, Kids Create will be back to welcome all children as they try their hands in making their own amazing art projects. Spread the word and join us in welcoming our neighbors for what is always a really fun time.

FIRST FRIDAY FUN COMING TO FIRST UNITED METHODIST CHURCH!!
MAY FIRST FRIDAY
Join us on Friday, May 3rd from 5:00 – 8:00 pm for another fabulous First Friday as we welcome Michigan City’s Pine School students in bringing their art and their music to share with us. This will be our last inside celebration of the arts for this season, as, beginning in June, we will once again be out on the corner of 7th & Franklin.
In May, our Gathering Room will be filled with Pines’ budding artists’ interesting and amazing art pieces; students are under the guidance of Art Director Holly Thomas Beedles. Fine Arts Director Julie Schmidt will lead her musicians in performances in the Sanctuary from 5:00 – 6:30 pm. They always do such a good job – don’t miss it.
Looking ahead to June, we are delighted to announce that Ripple Effect, an amazing choir from the South Bend area, will be back to bring its’ upbeat, inclusive, welcoming music to our city. Can’t wait!
So join us as we open our doors once again to our neighbors in the community and invite them to see what a welcoming church we are. Don’t forget to get a Methodist Brownie while you’re here – but fyi, when the kids come, the brownies go fast!

The First United Methodist Church will present an outdoor exhibit of water color paintings by Richard L. Church at the NE corner of Franklin and 7th Streets in the Uptown Arts District.
Mr. Church enjoys painting rural Indiana scenes. He has won many awards during his career as a water colorist and has taught water color painting at the Chesterton Art Center for the past 8 years. Also appearing will be Ripple Effect, a community/Ecumenical choir from Mishawaka. Their eclectic repertoire includes everything from hymns and spirituals to jazz and musical theater. This unique ensemble-in-residence at Coalbush United Methodist Church places emphasis on diversity, hope, and healing, as well as mega doses of fun!
In the case of inclement weather,the exhibit and musical presentation will be moved across the street to the Methodist Church at the corner of 7th and Pine Streets. There is a handicapped entrance on the Westside of the building.
