Have you wondered if there’s a way that you can help support the MC1st Messy Church congregation? Well, now there is! One of the most important things we do at Messy Church is share a meal, and the meal for the March Messy Church Escape Room is a PIZZA PARTY! If you would like to contribute to the Messy Church pizza fund, you may make your donations and mark them as “Messy Pizza” or EVEN BETTER! You can purchase Little Caesar’s script at $20.00 each, and donate the script to Messy Church! For every purchase of script, the church earns money back- so it’s a win win! Talk to Trish on Sunday morning, or place your donation in the offering with a notation that it’s for Messy pizza!

On Tuesday morning, February 8, the home of Mark and Jary Tannehill, members of St Paul Lutheran Church and our Soup Kitchen coordinator Erik’s parents, was destroyed by fire. It is considered a total loss. I reached out to Pastor Rashon at St Paul to see how we as a congregation might be helpful. Not only are we connected through Erik, but his father Mark often helps in the soup kitchen, especially when we have food deliveries. At this time the best way we can help them is financially. If you wish to help in this way a check made out directly to Mark and Jary Tannehill would be the best option.

I know you hear or read this every week but the need for help in the Soup Kitchen is critical. Just a reminder, we are serving from our kitchen 5 days a week with the financial support of St. Paul’s and First Presbyterian Churches as well as grants from the Unity Foundation, the Health Care Foundation of LaPorte and the United Way.

This announcement is from Chef Erik and The Melt Kitchen in Laporte. We are doing another give back for the Downtown Michigan City Emergency Soup Kitchen. 15% of the proceeds from the day’s sales will go to keep things going, during this uncertain time. As you know, the joint soup kitchen project was going to be a 4-6 week project, but almost 11 months later and nearly 37,500 meals later, our diligence is still taking care of the neighbors in need, 7 days per week.
We will have 5 kinds of soup, including house prepared ramen, to warm and soothe the soul. Prices and offerings will be posted the week before, along with full daily menu. Hope to see you then!

There will be a zoomed board meeting on February 9 at 6:30.

Masks and social distancing are required. We will keep an eye on the weather, but if it’s not sub- zero or sleeting sideways, we’ll be the hardy northerners we are and enjoy the fresh air together. If you have questions or need directions, call the church office.
